This artfully woven rug was created in the ancient Iranian city of Tabriz, capital of the northwestern province of Azerbaijan. Tabriz has for centuries enjoyed a great reputation as a center of Persian culture. Over the centuries Tabriz has developed from a naturally favored oasis at the foot of the volcano Sahand, to a modern commercial center. This intricate rug features rich tones of red, dark blue, light blue, peach, rust and green.
