Artisans from the region of Punjab are known world wide for the outstanding workmanship of their hand-carved wooden furniture and decor. During British rule in India, Punjabi craftsmen gained such an enviable reputation that they were recruited to England to work in English workshops and teach at English universities. Today, artisans in the village of Chinyot in Punjab have preserved the ancient Punjabi tradition of wood-carving.
