The Cora is a unique instrument with a harp-like appearance and a notched bridge similar to that of a lute or guitar. It is the highest developed string instrument of Africa and is widely used around the Sub Saharan Region during tribal music festivals.
It sounds somewhat like a harp, but its intricate playing style can be closer to flamenco guitar. The placement of the strings allows the playing of triadic harmonies and fast melody runs.
This original piece reflects traditional craft and incorporates indigenous resources while creating opportunity for local artists.
The handcrafted nature of this product will produce slight variations in form and sizing. All measurements are approximate.
